Designer Sunglasses Buyers Guide
The biggest factor in buying sunglasses is matching the shape of the frames to the shape of your face. To do this, you first need to figure out your own face shape, weird as it sounds! Those with more oval faces are lucky because they can pull off almost any designer sunglasses, unless of course your ugly (joke)! Those with a wider face should choose a frame that makes their face appear longer. A good rule of thumb would be to choose a frame that is squarer and rectangular. Likewise, if you have a face that is considerably long, you want to choose sunglasses that make your face appear shorter by not extending past the widest part of your face. People with long faces should try round or square frames.
First, colours. The colours in the frame should compliment your skin tone. There are basically two types of glass frames: wire and plastic. If you prefer wire, your options are usually limited to silver, black, or brown. These are all very flexibility colours. If you decide that plastic sunglasses are more your choice, the options are pretty much limitless. Dark-skinned people usually look great in lighter colours like white or bright frames. People with light skin should consider dark colours first, but should not completely rule out the brighter colours. Many designer sunglasses are now available with rhinestones embedded in the frame or the lens, or come in unique patterns such as stripes or polka dots.
There are also more shades of lens today, they range from very sallow, which are almost clear, to the blackest of blacks. A pair of glasses can work for some but not all. If a shade of lens doesn't quite work for you, try for something darker or lighter. Remember darker glasses tend to block out the sun more while lighter ones are used more frequently as a fashion statement.
The right pair of designer sunglasses should provide you with plenty of practical use and still make you look great. With the variety of sunglasses out there, it shouldn't be that hard to find something that compliments your face while still expressing who you are.
